Use it when your final exam is split into separate graded sections. Common examples: a written exam (60%) plus a lab practical (40%), or a presentation (25%) plus a paper (50%) plus a peer review (25%). Each section has its own weight within the final.

Part weights are relative to each other within the final, not relative to your overall class grade. If you set Part 1 to 60 and Part 2 to 40, that means Part 1 is 60% of the final exam and Part 2 is 40% of the final exam. The "Final's Total Weight" field sets how much the entire final is worth in your class.

Check the "Completed" checkbox for each part you've finished and enter the score you received. The calculator will account for those scores and tell you what you need on the remaining parts to hit your target grade.

Yes. The calculator computes a single uniform score you'd need across all incomplete parts. If you expect to do better on one part than another, treat the result as a weighted average — you can score higher on one part and lower on another, as long as the weighted combination meets or exceeds the target.
